Advertisement Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 Hi rollsman4, Take a look here Leica S 006 Software Update... Benefit. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
John McMaster Posted October 1, 2016 Share #2 Posted October 1, 2016 Any reason why you would not? The S(006) firmware also contains updates for the lenses. john
Deliberate1 Posted October 1, 2016 Share #3 Posted October 1, 2016 I have an 006 and see no reason to update based on the stated refinements. I have no immediate plans to go to Iceland and do not have an SL. If the functioning of S lenses on a S body is improved by the update, I would certainly would. From the Leica site: LEICA S / S-E (TYP 006) FIRMWARE UPDATE 2.5.0 GPS BEHAVIOUR IN ICELANDReduction of the camera start-up time when GPS is activated in the geographic region of Iceland. LEICA S LENS FIRMWARELatest Leica S lens firmware is included which is mandatory for the use of Leica S lenses with Leica SL (Typ 601) via Leica S-Adapter L. Deliberate1 Posted October 1, 2016 Share #5 Posted October 1, 2016 I keep all my firmware up to date (easy to do with an S2-P ) and never pick or choose john John, sorry to say, but I suspect Wetzlar considers the "update" for you dedicated S2 shooters to be the 007. mgrayson3 Posted October 1, 2016 Share #6 Posted October 1, 2016 In a recent shoot, my friend's 006 started lagging when tethered. His firmware was not up to date. Dropping the battery helped, but it would happen again in a few shots. He switched to my up to date 006 and it worked fine. You can never tell what effects untested combinations of software versions will have. --Matt
alan.y Posted October 1, 2016 Share #7 Posted October 1, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) This must be the only firmware update dedicated to a particular country.
jpk Posted October 2, 2016 Share #8 Posted October 2, 2016 The bug did apparently not only affect Iceland... A while back I asked Leica for a fix, they answered very friendly that they work on a firmware fix - which they just released. Hope this cures the problem described in the other thread. jip Posted October 2, 2016 Share #9 Posted October 2, 2016 The GPS problem on the 006 was anywhere in the norther hemisphere, also in Norway and sometimes even on the norther islands of the Netherlands (my own actual experience)
