jaapv Posted September 17, 2016 Share #6  Posted September 17, 2016 Looks like it should make a nice combo with the M-D I'm sure that is the audience they are aiming at.    Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members!  A symmetrical design, ten-blade aperture, it should give an Elmar-like rendering with smooth OOF areas.  I am quite taken by the classic look of the sample images. http://www.cosina.co.jp/gallery/oomura-50-3_5/05.html  If I didn't have an Elmar-M I would be quite tempted. pop Posted September 17, 2016 Share #7  Posted September 17, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Given that English is known globally, the copy screams "I DON'T CARE", or in English, "F*ck you", The text seems to have been "translated" by Leicarumours. They point to what I take to be the original text which is in a foreign language. However, even Cosina appears to live up to some western clichés; the missspell the lens once as "Heriar". honcho Posted September 17, 2016 Author Share #8  Posted September 17, 2016 The text seems to have been "translated" by Leicarumours. They point to what I take to be the original text which is in a foreign language. However, even Cosina appears to live up to some western clichés; the missspell the lens once as "Heriar".  I'm more curious about the lens than the absurd text that someone (presumably at LR) has blind-copied into Google Translate and uploaded in their haste to appear to be first with the news.  I like the thinking behind this 'Vintage Line'. With a bit of effort, Cosina Voigtlander have the ability and the manufacturing infrastructure to at least equal most Leica M lenses in every way. This is an ancient design. Coupled with CV's spin on glass, coating and diaphragm configuration it has the potential to be a capable lens as well as a bit of retro fun to use. jaapv Posted September 17, 2016 Share #9 Â Posted September 17, 2016 I quite agree. As I said this lens may have been inspired by the M-D. If it is indeed a line, I would go for an Angulon-type 21, or, who knows? a revival of the Hologon.
honcho Posted September 17, 2016 Author Share #10  Posted September 17, 2016  If it is indeed a line, I would go for an Angulon-type 21, or, who knows? a revival of the Hologon.  Both would certainly fit in very well with this CV vintage concept. The 21mm f4 is not their finest lens from my experience of it and the 21mm f1.8 is on the hefty side and not what I'd want for general use. Re-working either the SA or Hologon would be an interesting prospect. james.liam Posted September 17, 2016 Share #11  Posted September 17, 2016 Identical optical formula, it seems, to the collapsible 3,5/50 nickel Heliar LTM version that Cosina made back in 2009 in a limited edition, a redux of a 2001 release. This new one focuses closer than the original (0.7m vs 1.0).  https://cameraquest.com/voigt_5035N.htm  It can still be purchased new from Steve Gandy at Cameraquest in Los Angeles.
