farnz Posted June 12, 2007 Share #1 Posted June 12, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) My CV15 came with a 15mm viewfinder, which is a little wide for the 15 on the M8, so I'd like to convert it to a 21mm vf by adding a frameline. The method I dreamt up is to mount the M8 on a tripod, take a shot, bring it up on the LCD, place points on the vf that match what I see on the LCD and join the dots. This means putting the frameline on the front element because my eye will be too close to the rear element to mark the dots without also marking my eyeball and to move my eye back will change the fov. Does anyone have any other ideas for doing this, like how to calculate the appropriate frameline, what marker pen to use (and what not to) and whether it's better to put the frameline on the back or the front? If that is true, then my 15mm finder must be defective. It is very blurry and distorted, while my 21mm finder is crystal clear. I will admit they look the same, except for the frame lines on the 21. robertwright Posted June 13, 2007 Share #12 Posted June 13, 2007 I don't have the dimensions, but I did try one out when I bought my 15, and I can tell you that the silver lines were very tiny. I can't imagine any sort of tape that small. Basically .05mm wide. I don't know how you are going to mark those on the eyeball side of the viewfinder. If you can do it by eyeball one advantage will be that you can offset the crop lines to account for the fact that the finder is not over the lens center. You get a lot of errors from this simple difference. A real cv 21 viewfinder would not have this offset. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
