Advertisement Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 Hi dagoose, Take a look here EVF2. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
gbealnz Posted September 13, 2016 Share #2 Posted September 13, 2016 It does for me. I got it thinking I'd hate the LCD, but the opposite applies, the LCD unless swamped by sunlight is fine. Being a glasses wearer means using the EVF2 is not as simple as using the LCD, so unless I really need it, I don't use it. Carry it, and use it if/when it suits. teb1013 Posted September 13, 2016 Share #3 Posted September 13, 2016 I have the Olympus EVF2 for my X-Vario, works great. I like the feature that allows you to look down into it, if you want to hold the camera low down, without getting on your knees. The EVF allows you to use the camera like a DSLR but with far less bulk. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
gbealnz Posted September 14, 2016 Share #4 Posted September 14, 2016 Good point Teb, I'd forgotten about the vertical ability of the EVF2. Very handy. Gary
wda Posted September 14, 2016 Share #5 Posted September 14, 2016 I think the X Vario is incomplete without the option to add an EVF for certain situations. I use it less indoors, than outside.

I need reading glasses to use the LCD comfortably, but I don't need glasses for an EVF or OVF. Hence I always use an auxiliary finder with both the X2 and X Vario. gbealnz Posted September 14, 2016 Share #8 Posted September 14, 2016 Get the Olympus eyecup. What would that do though? The issue is with me, and my glasses, getting close enough to the eyepiece of the EVF2. I usually remove my glasses if and when I use the EVF2. I usually remove my glasses if and when I use the EVF2. Gary Why do you remove your glasses, Gary ? I always keep mine on and I have no problems with the EVF2. The only problem is when pulling the XV out of the bag, the focusing ring can move from time to time and I have to readjust it. 90% of my pictures are done with the EVF2 (old habit from the dSLR days). gbealnz Posted September 14, 2016 Share #10 Posted September 14, 2016 I find the glasses a nuisance more than a help, I either clang them against the V/F eyepiece, or I sometimes "look over the top of them". All in all, unless the LCD is flooded with light, I find it preferable. Low level though and exacting work, the extra effort to use the EVF2 is worthwhile. Or I normally push my spectacles up with the EVF to look directly and the cup kind of hooks them in place.
gbealnz Posted September 15, 2016 Share #12 Posted September 15, 2016 I'll give that a try Jaap. Certainly not a failing of the EVF2, or the X, just me and old age. Gary
mikeodial Posted September 23, 2016 Share #13 Posted September 23, 2016 screen not very good in bright daylight conditions - does the EVF2 for the xv solve the problem? Yes it does. I could not use my X Vario without one. Helps in many ways, particularly if you have been used to SLR.
