I'm trying out my Hasselblad 250mm Summilux and what I see is when I push the back button I do not get any indication if the lens is in focus. But when I half press the shutter release I see the arrows light up and I get a conformation green circle when in focus......... Why don't I get it when using the back button??

Another mythical lens, just doubly as Summilux is probably a Leica registered name.... Sounds like it is working as designed.

Because the back button activates autofocus and confirms the focus, if the lens has no autofocus it cannot start autofocus and won't show you focus confirmation ;)

This is #8

Thanks for the conformation. I thought that's what it was but wasn't 100% sure.

I'm going to Ragistan next month for 5 days and in two minds on what to take Hasselblad 503 or Leica S. I have all my lenses back with the new AF motors so that gives me confidence to take the S but I reall think Ragistan needs to be shot in film........ I have a month to think about it

Taking both is not an option as it's just to much sh1t to carry around

Given the temperature (according to climate tables up to 35 even in October) it is doubtful whether a medium format system is a good idea for a travel camera at all.

OTOH, you can always rent a camel, provided you take care to keep your head away from it :

If you are pushing a button on the back of the Hasselblad to get the camera to autofocus, then it must have electricity, surely?
