How close is LiveView Preview to the final picture?

Hello,

So, how close is the image displayed by LiveView to the image captured on the SD card? Do I only see a good preview of the scene while shooting in manual mode, after pressing the shutter halfway?

Tomorrow, I'll try to hunt down a Q to play with but I could use some tips.

  Best,

  Larry

The camera LCD can never show the final postprocessed image. It can give an indication of composition, sharpness when zoomed in and a limited impression of the exposure  (together with histogram and clipping indication). This goes for all cameras and brands.

I assume the same goes for the EVF which is what I meant to say as I plan on composing with that most of the time.

indeed the very same goes for the EVF (I proceed like you), with maybe a minor quirk as the EVC color balance is not exactly as precise as on the LCD (at least IMHO)

the EVF and the screen will give you an information of high quality as an idea what your picture may look like in terms of exposure. But this is based on jpg and the definition of how the picture is being shown. Here every company has its own secrets  But only the RAW file will let you know about the potential. You will learn how to preview what you want to be in your final image after processing.

I would like to precise what I meant : not that the viewed pic was jpeg or anything else, but that the image as seen through the viewfinder was not with exactly the same colors than the one seen on the rear LCD.

So, you may decide your shot on warmth of color incorrectly, IMHO -unless you know this.

So, how close is the preview in monochrome mode to the final image? ;-) I assume the view in the EVF is in black & white, at least that is what I understood from reading other threads.
