Anyone tried 'em? I have the new 25mm P CV lens! It is beautiful, RF coupled, very sharp. Here is a pix from the Norfolk, Virginia HarborFest and SailVirginia 2007. cbretteville Posted June 11, 2007 Share #3 Posted June 11, 2007 Jono, They're the same optical cells as in the LTM versions. I've got both the lenses in the old mount and am taking delivery of the 25P on Wednesday. For that price they're real bargains. I've purchase them to play around with, experiment to see if I like the focal length. On the M6 I didn't like the 21, but loved the 25 immediately. I'm so glad I found that out with a CV lens rather than a Leica. On the M8 the 21 is more in line with my taste, but the 25 remains a favourite. Guess I should sell the old 25 now the new one is on its way, but it will not ruin me if I don't. There is a recent thread on the 25P here: http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/leica-m8-forum/26419-cv25p-snapshot-skopar-pleasant-32mm-m8.html#post275865 Cheers, - Carl
geoff Posted June 11, 2007 Share #4 Posted June 11, 2007 Jonathan, I have both in M-mount (P) versions. Love both. Extremely compact, sharp and good contrast. I heard reports that the 21mm was soft at the corners but I can't seem to detect that myself. I used the 21mm a lot when I was out in LA last and enjoyed it very much, although I got only a few images posted from that trip. sean_reid Posted June 11, 2007 Share #5 Posted June 11, 2007 As Carl mentioned, they are supposed to be identical optically to the LTM versions I tested. I'll be testing them this summer and am curious if any changes in QC have perhaps improved the corner res of the new 21. The LTM version is soft in the corners. jonoslack Posted June 11, 2007 Author Share #7 Posted June 11, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thank you everyone And thank you Sean - I've just read your review again - it seems that the only thing you really have against the older 25 is that it isn't rangefinder coupled - and the new one is. I just missed a 24 elmarit on ebay, maybe the VM lens will do me instead! thanks again
cme4brain Posted June 11, 2007 Share #8 Posted June 11, 2007 Love the boat shot nice David Thanks! Here is the same boat from the exact same spot with the CV 15mm Heliar, f/8! Another fine lens (yes, I know the thread wanted the 21mm and 25mm lenses). Welcome, dear visitor! I just missed a 24 elmarit on ebay, maybe the VM lens will do me instead! thanks again I liked the LTM CV 25/4 so much that I bought one for myself. RF-coupling is a huge advantage for the new lens so long as we can easily get the bayonet milled by John. Has anyone pulled it yet? Hi Lloyd, You mentioned that to me. I tested two samples and both showed the same results. I'm glad that yours doesn't seem to. Also, many kinds of pictures don't place heavy demands on corner res. If it is a QC issue, I'm hoping the new one will be better in this respect. Cheers, Sean

Anyone tried 'em? I ordered the 21mm LTM version and should get it tomorrow. The LTM version is optically identical, works with a Millich adapter and comes with a viewfinder which I'm going to use for my CV 15mm (on the M8). And lastly, it costs even less than the new P-version.

A agree that it is the only CV lens that has somewhat disappointed me (though I also have mixed feelings about the 40/1.4 depending on what aperture is being used). Hi Lloyd, If you get a chance, post a corner crop from a 100% file made at F/4 with that lens at about 3 - 5 feet from the subject. Maybe you got an especially good one. jlm Posted June 12, 2007 Share #20 Posted June 12, 2007 So far, I have cut recesses in the 40mm C/V M-mount and am about to do another and the 25, which poses no problem. jm@milich.com
