geoff Posted June 11, 2007 Share #5 Posted June 11, 2007 Harris, I've just rounded out my UV/IR filter needs for my collection of eight Voightlander lenses. I've transitioned all my previous UV/IR filters over from B+W to Leica, especially for the wider lenses. So my previous B+Ws maybe up for grabs. What part of PA are you from? Most all of the Voightlander lenses I have, except for the 40mm, take a 39mm thread filter, which is now very easy to obtain. PopFlash.Photo seems to be as good as anyone, if not better, on stocking both the B+W and Leica UV/IR filters of various sizes. If they don't have them, most likely no one does. Just got in the 43mm Leica UV/IR filter for my Nokton 40mm from them today. Additionally, I received the Milich LT-M8 adapters for the screw mount Voightlanders and I am investigating having the flanges notched by John Milich for the remaining M mount Voightlanders. stevme Posted June 11, 2007 Share #6 Posted June 11, 2007 How do you attach the IR cut filter to the CV 15 mm lens? Is there a special holder of some sort? Steve

Steve Use a Leica UV/IR 39mm filter, 13410, and a O-Ring.
wparsonsgisnet Posted June 11, 2007 Share #8 Posted June 11, 2007 That must be why the o-ring doesn't fit. I got a Leica IR/UV filter 13416 and can't get the o-ring between the lens and the filter. Looking for 2-sided tape. This lens weighs **nothing**. BTW, the 15mm finder works well as a viewfinder, calculating that the image is inside the viewed perspective. Sort of a case of "thinking inside the box."

I cut it in strips about the width of the Leica filter and wrapped it around until I had a tight fit. It worked great and the filter is in the hood very securely. I'm not sure all that goo on 2-sided tape would be the best thing. The packing tape is kind of thick and strong. It should be easy to remove. Not to hijack this thread, but I was wondering what users are doing when they use this lens on their film M's? So far I have used mine on my M3 with the IR filter in, but that is not optimum. I hope that jlm is working on a more permanent solution that might allow us to take the filter on and off of this lens.

Bill, 13416 is the part number for the silver version, 13410 for the black. Perhaps your o-ring is to thick. I got to pop down to my local hardware and see if they have an assortment of different o-rings I can try out in the store. That's one project. The other is confirming that I can remove the flanges off my M-mount Voightlanders, myself, at ease, and send them into John Milich for notch milling. The 21mm viewfinder works a treat with the 15, but it looks to me to be the same viewfinder as the 15, but with some frame lines added

Hi Cindy, I should have the prototype for the CV 12 filter holder here soon and John may indeed make a version for the 15. We've talked about it. jlm Posted June 12, 2007 Share #13 Posted June 12, 2007 input required: it would be relatively easy to make an adapter/hood to fit the 15mm similar to the one shown for the 12mm (fits on to the outside of the existing hood, would probably use a 49mm filter glass in this case and cost $150) another option is some sort of optimzed ring that clamps the 39mm filter and its ring into the existing hood. this eould be cheaper 9i still have to figure it out, so no exact price yet. comments? jaapv Posted June 12, 2007 Share #14 Posted June 12, 2007 I would like some ring to fit the Leica 39 filter, if you could figure it out. Maybe it could be a more effective lenshood for the cropped sensor at the same time?
jlm Posted June 12, 2007 Share #15 Posted June 12, 2007 sounds like a good idea; anyone know the angle of view for the 15mm on the M8? could probably make a hood/adapter using the 39mm glass and slipping into the ID of the existing hood. starting to get tricky. sean_reid Posted June 12, 2007 Share #17 Posted June 12, 2007 I would like some ring to fit the Leica 39 filter, if you could figure it out. Maybe it could be a more effective lenshood for the cropped sensor at the same time? I was thinking the same thing and that's what I had in mind when John and I were discussing this a couple of weeks ago. The 15 is such a compact lens and it would be good to preserve that as well as improve the lens shading. I also would want to see that filter glass be as close as possible to the front lens element. John, You know we talked about this, and I'll call you today, but my thought is an adapter that slides over the outside of the current (built-in) hood but which also holds the 39 mm filter just in front of the lens element (I think there's just enough room). That would mean that the existing hood would come up into a sort of sleeve in the adapter. It might be tricky to machine but, then, what's life without challenge? That would be sturdy and would provide additional shading for the lens. Cheers, Sean
george_b Posted June 12, 2007 Share #18 Posted June 12, 2007 Sounds like a winner, just now need to make enough for the demand. Wonder how many would be interest? I know that I would - all things being equal.
