Puts' new prediction on M9 and R10,

 

" ...The M9 is the current M8 with 16 Mb sensor as you will also find in the R10. The M9 (probability rating 90%!) has 16 Mb on the same sensor size as the current M8, will have a Live View function, electronic rangefinder support or an electronic finder as an accessory device. The M8 will stay in production but now as an a-la-carte model (probability rating 95%). A digital CM is also predicted but with a PR of only 30%. With a PR of 90% we will see a new R10 in the current body shape of the R9, but with 16 Mb sensor and AF lenses. In the past we had the R and RE series of bodies, so there will also be an R10E (PR of 50%). "

One thing is for sure, we would all welcome Leica to be more forward thinking in these digital era.

This is exactly what I was saying in the other thread a reviewer should never start a rumor that he heard. It is in bad journalist taste. Okay flame the crap out of me but this is wrong and disturbing coming from someone that reviews gear publicly on the internet. I said my peace

It may be true, it may be nonsense - but I would like to know how he calculated those probabilty ratings... . I didn't know photography journalism had its silly season as well:rolleyes:

Hey everybody Leica is thinking about a all digital SLR camera, R10, and now since the success of the M8 they are thinking about a M9.

DUH really, who would of thunk that.

These writings are nearly facts, but I think nothing new. The only question is WHEN ? That would have been interesting. M9 ? next year ? 2 years ? R10 still this year next year ....

Not Puts is rumor monging, it's the German magazine. Most of Puts' article is about Leica's future and the comparism to Apple's history and their parallels. The referral to the magazine is just a small part of the article. And Puts also does not predict anything regarding a M9 or R10 (of course it's just a matter of time until they'll hit the shelves) - he is just pointing out things Leica might want to consider in the future and might learn from Apple (and I think he has a point there).
