Nick Bedford Posted August 15, 2016 Share #1 Posted August 15, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) I was curious as to how malleable this particular file was, so I decided to just put a full test video together using Final Cut Pro X. You can see that this picture doesn't entirely saturate the dynamic range of the M but it comes pretty close, probably about 11-12 stops, of which the sensor is rated at about 13 stops I believe. The video is uploaded in 2K resolution if you want to max out YouTube. Shot on Leica M Typ 240, Summarit 35mm and processed with VSCO Film's Kodak Portra 160NC. I swear this camera's image quality is more than plenty for me for a long time! The dynamic range and lack of AA filter with 24mp gives you so much to work with. Advertisement Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 Hi Nick Bedford, Take a look here DNG Latitude Test on M 240. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
ramarren Posted August 15, 2016 Share #2 Posted August 15, 2016 Agree. I have no problem with either DR or resolution of the typ 240 and 262 sensor. The M-P and M-D are good enough for many years worth of photography.
sblutter Posted August 20, 2016 Share #3 Posted August 20, 2016 Especially with a little PP and Pshop. Hard to loose a shot other than very low light
jaapv Posted August 31, 2016 Share #4 Posted August 31, 2016 Agree. The difference between the rated DR and the real life one that you present probably stems from using an image of a scene instead of a test target.
