Yes, sensors may differ for different brands, but I was under the impression that the M262 sensor and the Q sensor was very much the same animal. But that is probably not true.

Different designers, different maker... And then there is the in-camera processing. What amplification was chosen, which white and black point, which Bayer interpolation algorithms, etc... before the the output is written to the file.

Bart, matlep,

yes, every new camera is a new adventure and it is sometimes irksome to work out a new concept and find out about the potential and the limits. Thank you both for sharing experiences.

My pleasure!

Thing is that i have been shooting the Q for a year alongside with the M240 without any issues. (Maybe that was because the M had been with me since 2012 and I had it figured out.) But then i recently acquired the M 262, and that is when i started to notice how different things are between different Leicas which i think basically share the same DNA.

I was under the impression that the M 262 and M 240 was about the same (With obvious differences of course). But it seems the M 262 is very different from the M 240 in image "quality" (Cant think of a better word here, sorry). Almost feels like when I made the upgrade from the M9 to the M 240.

Or maybe I have a lemon M 262. But that is for a different part of the fora... :)

To all: yes, there is a lot at play to get something that looks like a photo out of the RAW sensor data. In that respect, getting the right amount of the light on the sensor is only the first and at the same time small step... And indeed, Jaap, choices as to how the data is processed are hugely important. Many times I find that these are the most cumbersome. I find myself using different RAW converters for different camera's because of that. I cannot say that one converter is really better than any other but on per camera basis.

A well, I enjoyed this conversation, thanks, and we will meet again!
