Leica MP 240

Hi, this question might be very objective... any thoughts would be appreciated.

I am interested in purchasing my first Leica, I have found a MP 240 in mint condition with all original accessories for $3,900.00 and I have the option to return the camera if needed. I have seen a price range from $4,500 to $5,600 in used excellent to mint conditions and I am somewhat confused about the large differences.

Would you consider this to be fair price? What should I ask the seller and what should I look for.

Thank you,

Robert

If it is an MP-240 that is a great price. If it is a film MP then probably not.

Be careful by asking for the serial number and then check with a Leica dealer that it is not on the stolen list.

If it is clear then snap it up. You won't regret it.

I agree with Peter.  I just bought a used M240 digital from a former Leica dealer in NYC.  He said he checked it out and it was in grat shape.  It was guaranteed and returnable.  Pristine condition with everything including box and paperwork for $3,600, shipped.  I love it.  Andrew
