Dear members of the Leica Forum

Unfortunately, my Leica M 240 silver Nr 4701593 was stolen today 27 July 2016 in Zug (Switzerland).

The M240 was equipped with a black Artist and Astisan Leather shelf and the original Leica electronic view finder. It was stolen together with an attached Leica Summicron M 2.0 28mm ASPH Nr 4109403 with sunshade.

Please report to the police when this camera or lens is offered to you or you see this camera or lens. Contact for police in Zug (Switzerland) is Phone +41 41 728 4141; Email: info.polizei@zg.ch, and please send a personal message to me.

Thank you.

I'm sorry to hear that and i may imagine how desperate would I feel in a case like that. This is why I always keep my camera or my camera bag on me when sitting in a bar or a restaurant. The only way to prevent it to be stolen, unless in the case of an armed robbery, is to always have it under your eyes. Never hang it to the chair or leave it on the floor and, of course, never leave it unguarded. I really hope you will have it back.

Dear forum members

Good news! The M240 and the lens is back in my hands. I am so happy!

Security has controlled a suspect with a silver Leica and this was my camera. I could pick up the Camera at the local police station this morning. Thank you to security and the police of Zug.

Kind regards

Swiss Leica Fan

PS: And thank you for your kind comments which I will take to heart.

  • 2 weeks later...

Note to myself....bag at my feet, with the strap around my leg while in a restaurant..

Congratulations on the recovery, That's a high-dollar theft. Should warrant a decent amount of time behind bars. Of course, the thief's attorney will try to say the camera has dropped in value since purchase, making it a low-dollar crime, LOL...

I hope you had insurance. I know it costs a fortune but it can be worthwhile.

My insurance costs me about GBP 170 a year. Daylight robbery some might say. Each to their own. It gives me peace of mind.

Out of interest who do you use?
