Elmer-it Posted July 14, 2016 Share #1 Posted July 14, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Dear All, New SL and 24-90 owner needs some help mastering this camera. I've been able to tweak the camera to my needs thanks to all the helpful threads, but one thing eludes me. With my ZM 50/1.5 en 35/1.4 using the M-adapter, a press on the joystick engages an enlarged (zoomed in) view to help manual focus. With the 24-90 mounted i would like the same option, but for the life of me i cannot find how to activate it. Any help greatly appreciated!

FlashGordonPhotography Posted July 14, 2016 Share #2 Posted July 14, 2016 Short press of the lower left button, when using AF lenses. Gordon p.s. welcome to the forum.
Elmer-it Posted July 14, 2016 Author Share #3 Posted July 14, 2016 Thank you Gordon! I had already found that option, i should have expressed myself more clearly. I want to achieve the enlarged view through a press on the joystick, just as is possible with a manual focus lens... Happy to be here!
steppenw0lf Posted July 15, 2016 Share #4 Posted July 15, 2016 In AF mode - when using AF lenses - the joystick is already in use, or better has already a function. So you cannot assign anything new to it. With M or R lenses it is/was unused and can be assigned a function - so it is now actually also in use. (but was not in the first release). I hope you understand - maybe I formulated it a bit strangely.
ramarren Posted July 15, 2016 Share #5 Posted July 15, 2016 With dedicated lenses, the joystick press has other functions available that preclude dedicating it to the one-press zoom function. You have to use the LL button short-press for magnification.
Elmer-it Posted July 15, 2016 Author Share #6 Posted July 15, 2016 Ok, many thanks for your help, i would have preferred the joystick press option, but i'll rewire my muscle memory to the LL button.

That's how I feel as well. But many like the AF being tied to the joystick press. Maybe the SL2 can have a dedicated button for rear button AF.
