Regular assignment / contest?

Hi all,

 

A forum I was a member of ages ago ran a regular contest (it was weekly, but I think monthly would be a more comfortable fit around the rest of life).

 

There were no prizes except the right to choose the next theme.  The themes were sometimes obvious like 'best flower', often inventive and abstract such as 'blue', and sometimes very broad like 'winter'.  I'd like to steer away from things like 'best street photo', 'best portrait' etc.

 

Suggested format - assignment launches 1st of month.  Entries by 20th.  New thread created for voting with all images in.  Voting closes 25th. 5 days for winner to do a victory lap and pick a new topic.

 

I prefer the word 'assignment' to 'contest'.  This would really be just for fun and give us an excuse to go shoot and pat each other on the back for some nice images.

 

Is this something people would find interesting and fun?  It would probably need a mod to run it so this would only fly if the mods have the time and the interest to get this done.  Sometimes I really want to go create, but need that spark to get me going.

Lol, yes.  I did a search for the words 'contest' and 'assignment' and found nothing.

 

It never occurred to me to search for 'Barnack's Monthly'
