pemayeux Posted June 7, 2007 Share #1 Posted June 7, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Well - my old Kodak slide projector is ready to be retired. What model Leica projector and lens would be recommended assuming about a 20 foot distance from projector to screen. Thanks, Paul.

abrewer Posted June 8, 2007 Share #2 Posted June 8, 2007 I'm going to be curious at the responses you receive, too, Paul; as my old Kodak is on its last legs after a visit to the Kodak repair shop in Houston last fall. Thanks. Allan
lambroving Posted June 8, 2007 Share #3 Posted June 8, 2007 20 feet?! How many people can you get to look at slides? I've a Pradovit Color 250 with a Colorplan 90/2.5 which works great except for the on/off switch I bought to replace the one on the projector which went south. Never bothered to solder it in and am now not sure where it is. This works great for 12 feet, maybe 15. Probably not bright enough for 20. Not sure..., never tried it. A 300 Watt might cost a good bit more.
echogallery Posted June 8, 2007 Share #4 Posted June 8, 2007 Hi Paul, I made the jump from Kodak to the Leica Pradolux RT300 with 90mm Colorplan lens. You'll immediately see a difference in the overall color, with Kodak appearing noticeably more yellow. This is due to the extra filter Kodak uses to restrict the bulb's heat from reaching the slide. Leica doesn't need the filter since the pathway of the light is bounced internally. Noise appears to be about the same. The Pradolux is also a sensible side step since it accepts all Kodak Carousel trays. Good luck with your final decision. Gary
pemayeux Posted June 8, 2007 Author Share #5 Posted June 8, 2007 Thanks guys. William - believe or not the family enjoys sitting down for a slide show. There aren't many friends I'd want to punish by subjecting them to the show. I estimated 20 feet but it is probably closer to 15 or 16 feet. I've got a 60" screen and like to get the image as large as possible. It's wonderfult to walk up and see the detail that comes out. Gary - thanks, that is great info and that it will accept the Kodak carousel trays. I've got a dozen or so and I'd like to be able to continue to use them. The Pradolux sounds like the route I want to go.
twom4 Posted June 11, 2007 Share #6 Posted June 11, 2007 Pradovit RTs with Super-Colorplan 90mm. Uses one myself. If you are a Kodak carousel user, you will like this one (allegedly also made by Kodak for Leica).
echogallery Posted June 11, 2007 Share #7 Posted June 11, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi Guys, The Pradolux RT300 was reported to have been made by Singer for Leica. Kodak was not involved although they might have had the license for the gravity feed and carousel system. Gary
leicapages Posted June 17, 2007 Share #8 Posted June 17, 2007 If you have been using Kodak Caroussel with round trays, then you should really get a Leica Pradovit RT projector, which uses the same trays. If not, the best Leica projector with straight trays is the Pradovit P2002.
