really? what's the interest there? surely there have been enough wars that germany has been involved in since the beginning of time to reenact. i find this kind of funny . . . .. i guess reenactors simply enjoying reenacting ..... in any event, i certainly like the photo.

As a member, indeed the leading member of the EU, it's considered politically incorrect in Germany to reenact the European wars in which they were involved or instigated. That's why reenactors have to pinch someone else's war. The upside is that it gives them the opportunity of choosing the winning side. ;)

Aha!!!!!! The answer! Thank you. Makes sense. Can they do the battle of Waterloo? Since the Hessians helped out in the American Revolution perhaps they can cross the Rhine and believe they are tee acting Washington cross the Delaware. :-). Thanks again for the input. Much appreciated

Heaven forbid, that would upset the French ;)

Apparently, there are those in France who feel it inappropriate that, as a member of the E.U. (at least for the time being), we still insist on calling our main London rail terminus south of the Thames "Waterloo". :)

Hello, thank you for your interest in my picture. In Germany there are people who are interested in the life in wild west and the civil war. Every year, near my hometown, there is a event where these people meet and simulate the life of the natives, cowboys and soldiers. Some of them are also in a rifle club and hold contests during the event. It's not very serious and mostly done for fun.

Thank you -- presumed this was all done for fun and why not!
