dadohead Posted June 5, 2016 Share #2 Posted June 5, 2016 Well, the camera will go to 30s natively. Set the shutter speed dial to +1 and use the thumb wheel to dial in up to 30s. Do you need more than this? Turn the thumbwheel until you see T, and the camera functions like a T setting; press the shutter release to open the shutter and press the shutter release again to close the shutter. Pretty straightforward

Pretty straightforward I followed what you said to set the shutter to T. However, the shuttle will automatically release when 30s for ISO 100 or 8s for ISO 1600, which makes no sense for T. Any idea? dadohead Posted June 6, 2016 Share #4 Posted June 6, 2016 By golly, you're right. That's goofball; why even bother with T? Just another Q quirk.
SonomaBear Posted June 7, 2016 Share #5 Posted June 7, 2016 Amazing compact, full frame Q camera does the nearly impossible. Lousy composition, just an experiment in low light exposure. Literally no light, no moon, no lights other than kitchen interior. Oh, and a led light in arbor jasmine. 12 seconds at f1.7 with ISO 160 -- camera resting on porch rail. Welcome, dear visitor! kapturlight Posted June 8, 2016 Author Share #6 Posted June 8, 2016 So it looks like the shutter has limitations according to the ISO setting, another one of those german glitches, make a good camera and then hobble it.

Iduna Posted June 8, 2016 Share #8 Posted June 8, 2016 the maximum shutter is 30 secs. This is the usual common feature with most cameras on the market apart from DSLRs. If you want to shoot extreme longtime exposure you have to choose another camera. But for the most cases it is manageable. With 30 secs you can cover a lot of subjects. Dancook's samples show what is possible with a dark sky. Thanks for posting these.
