Advertisement Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 Hi IkarusJohn, Take a look here The M-D would be an absolute triumph if it didn't cost so much.... I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
ademora Posted June 12, 2016 Share #82 Posted June 12, 2016 Whilst I know I am not going to add anything profound to this conversation, I have for awhile had the preview turned off on my M240 and only use the screen for setting the iso and when I attach none coded lenses whilst out shooting. I do then review the photos on the screen later and for those times that I need to clean the sensor, or make changes to the settings. I have been struggling to see any advantage of having a digital camera without a lcd screen it seems like a marketing gimmick for those who use Leica as a fashion accessory rather than a serious tool to take photos. For those times that I really want to go back to basics, I take my M2 out and rely on the sunny 16 rule
jaapv Posted June 12, 2016 Share #83 Posted June 12, 2016 I think the fashion accessory accusation is unfair. I know not one forum member, in fact not one Leica owner, to whom it does apply.
Nick Bedford Posted June 12, 2016 Share #84 Posted June 12, 2016 To clarify, you may be getting the whole "no display" thing mixed up with using Live View to take photos, which a lot of us only ever use in very specific circumstances. I didn't buy a $7,000 rangefinder to use Live View, that's for sure! The point of the M-D is about removing the constant temptation to review photos while you should be trying to make photos. If that style of camera works for you, and you have the money, who's to knock it. Peter H Posted June 12, 2016 Share #85 Posted June 12, 2016 I think it would be nice if the M-D and the other derivative versions could be announced a little earlier in the product cycle, so that potential buyers could make a more straightforward decision as to which version of the latest M camera they would like. The loss of the end-of-run sales boost involved may be compensated for in a number of ways, but I think this would be fairer to many Leica users, and that virtue must have its own rewards. Guest Posted June 15, 2016 Share #86 Posted June 15, 2016 Again, in this day and age, it was obvious that M-D users would be a minority, but that they would really connect with the camera. It is not something for everyone, but you have to appreciate that it may be everything for someone. This is why I thank and applaud Leica for making such a camera when nobody else would. Just like the Monochrome was deemed something to sniff at. Yet it proved by to be a great addition to the M line-up. I think the M-D and in fact the M-A are brilliant and also thank Leica for providing what no other would.

A very valid point indeed, thank you for making it.
Guest Posted June 15, 2016 Share #88 Posted June 15, 2016 I think the fashion accessory accusation is unfair. I know not one forum member, in fact not one Leica owner, to whom it does apply. Neither do I. I bought Leica because I wanted the best available for my money. When I have my results in Lightroom from the SL & M & R lenses, I know I chose well.
