Leica NJ SLOW

I won't argue any of those points believe me. LOL been part of it myself. let's just hope these folks catch up soon

To tell the truth, I have the bad feeling that the line is getting longer, not shorter; and that there are a lot of people (like me) who are holding off on sending lenses until we hear that things are improving. They don't seem to be.

I will say that when they replaced my original camera, after I got the Death Syndrome, they sent me one that had been calibrated to be spot-on, which I much appreciated.

I read that thread, but I'm no less befuddled. The mount may have critical specs, but it's not something that they couldn't subcontract somewhere. I suspect that what's going on is that they can't subcontract without taking a chance that they'll lose money on the deal, or perhaps not meet some specified profit target, so they stick with the pre-determined system. Someobody has to realize that this reputation for bad service may be costing them more in lost opportunity than would taking a temporary reduction in profit for lens repairs. ($125 each should, given the non-complexity of the part, more than cover costs, I would think, even with a lens adjustment.)

I agree with this in principle but not in practice, John. I've got a new 50/1.4 Summilux ASPH, which is coded, and which does not focus properly at infinity; all my uncoded lenses focus correctly, and I've had trouble with the coded 28/2 ASPH also. Despite the part's simplicity there does seem to be some sort of issue with coded mounts introducing focus error, and until this is understood & sorted out I really don't want to introduce another potential source of uncertainty (a subcontractor with unknown QA/QC procedures) into the equation.

in this list you can not complain about leica NJ and their service, because everybody says they are so good and wonderful.....

i stopped using NJ and now directly deal with Solms. jury still out on them and how they do

Me too! I buy from a very helpful dealer in Germany, and deal directly with the factory for repairs. Of course I also learned the hard way. That said, I have noticed a trend here where people have found a good dealer who will simply replace the defective M8. However, there is no way I will deal with Leica NJ.

Well I got my replacement camera today and as far as I can tell, only took a couple of shots with it, it is fine.

Leica actually sent me a complete outfit. New battery, charger, strap, warranty card and all. But that was a mistake and they are sending a call ticket for the extra stuff I got.

I spoke to both Christian Erhardt and Robert Fisk about the mix up and both said well that is very honest of you, which is the way I live.

Thank you Leica USA and of course to Guy Mancuso.
