I ended up buying Novoflex LET/NIK adapter.

I wish I could buy from there and ship to the USA economically. The site quotes €167 for the item and €69.99 for shipping to the USA ... that's very close to what it would cost me from B&H Photo. ($245+ free shipping vs $247). Haven't decided yet whether I really want to keep my Nikon stuff, so I'm holding off.

Try a cheap adapter while you are undecided. It will do just as well for a few test shots.

It's not really worth buying a cheap adapter, that's like throwing money away.

For a few test shots, if I ignore the vignetting the stack of M Adapter L and Nikon adapter to M works okay.

Well that's about first time ever I hear some photo gear is cheaper for us here in EU compered to US prices

 

I got it for those 167€, shipment to DK was max. 10-15€, don't really remember the exact price. Don't understand why shipment to US should be so expensive??

I don't understand either, but that's what the site lists. 

 

Billingham camera bags are actually much more reasonably priced in GB than in the USA ... To the extent that when I bought my L1 a dozen years ago, it was almost forty percent less money to buy from Robert White Limited and ship to California than to buy from New York. I understand that Domke bags are the reverse ... much more expensive there than here.

Stuff is often cheaper in EUR or GBP, since the dollar has gotten strong and prices don't always keep up with the shifts, but shipping costs from stores in Germany or in the UK (even Ffordes, which is the most economical I have found) seem to add $50-100 US to the base shipping cost, which would be the equivalent of USPS Priority, tracked, uninsured. When selling my own used gear and shipping from Israel to the US, I pay $5-10 for priority mail over the postal services.
