I like the Thumbs Up attachment (because it's made of brass and will age nicely)but struggle with paying £130/$190 for it. The cheap alternatives are made of aluminium and I really wanted a worn brass look. So, I decided to make one. I got some 2mm brass sheet from Amazon for £5 and got to work yesterday with a Dremel, files and emery cloth. Cutting the brass to a rough size Welcome, dear visitor! When using heavier lenses, the strength and stability of the shoe could suffer perhaps. Since I am too clumsy for such a nice DIY project, I bought the expensive Thumbs Up CSEP-4S, but with which I am very satisfied. Perhaps you've noticed it on my Leica at our meeting at the Leitz Park. When I get hold of it (prob 2 weeks) I'll measure it and post the dimensions. I made a model from card and then transferred the card pattern to the brass.
