Timezone info also stored in profile !!

I just discovered that the timezone info is stored in profile too (I haven't upgraded to the latest FW for M240 yet). While travelling internationally, I changed the timezone so that timestamp is accurate. But when I changed my profile, it reverted back to old timezone. I came to know about this only after importing pictures in LR.

In terms of hardship, not so much because I could mass select pics in LR and shift the timestamp, but it was disappointing that Leica will store this info in profiles.

Just venting... :(

As soon as you know, it is rather practical if one uses use the camera in different timezones, i.e crossing into a neighbouring country on a regular basis. Just switch profiles at the border.

If you move into another zone once when traveling you'll have to reset your profiles, just like your watch.

You can do that at home and store them on an SD card along with your original profiles for convenience

Yes, but I have profiles for different lenses or lighting conditions or LV on/off...

After taking a deep breadth I understand that Leica decided to store *everything* in the profile because they don't know how it will be used (as opposed to Canikon profiles which stores only limited configurations).

But still... don't worry.. I will get over with.

Yes. but as I said, store your original profiles on an SD card, you can always import them, no matter how much you mess around with the ones in your camera. If I travel I always make a set at home with  the anticipated parameters and store them as well. Just a few button presses will reset the camera for the appropriate area.

It is new to me that timezone are included as well, as I normally travel North-South, but it appears to me that the inclusion is well thought through.

I understand storing one set of profiles for safe keeping. What I don't understand is how can you use the same profile (take lens specific profile) along with timezone based profile. It is either this or that.

For me it is easier to simply ignore timezone setting and shift time stamp in LR based on place later on.

Just rename the same profile - with another timezone- and save it. But of course, we all have our preferred way of doing things.

Personally I couldn't care less about the time stamp. The date is something else. Come to think of it, for an Australian traveling to the USA it comes down to the same thing ;)

There is no point of adjusting DST (Daylight Saving) unless all the profiles are updated with new value. This makes it a chore twice a year and with each timezone crossing. I wish Leica left the ALL the timestamp settings outside the profiles to make these settings useful. To me this is not well thought through.

I will simply leave these settings as it is and move on.

@jmahto: We have been complaining about this for years. There are some who think this is a feature but it is just bad design.
