How you open DNG files on MAC?

I got an M8 to test it, I installed the Leica & Capture One LE software.

Iphoto is not able to read the DNG files, same thing with photoshop CS, same thing with adobe lightroom.

something wrong with the SD card?

regards Stefan

Lightroom is able to open M8 DNG files without any problems. I do it all the time. However, there does appear to be a bug that the previews do not show in the import dialog if the files are on an SD card. If they on on a HDD they do show.

However, even though the previews do not show, LR does correctly import them from the SD cards for you to view from the Library. You need to have the SD card in a reader though. The M8 does not show up as a HDD.

If you have the C1 Le that came with the M8, you should have no problem there....

The current version of Mac OS does not support the M8 DNG files, so iPhoto, Aperture and Finder cannot view the files, because they rely on the OS to open them.

How fast is your reader? Mine opens a file from the reader in only a couple of seconds....

I can copy 4GB to the HDD in only a couple of minutes....

David around 30min for 90 DNG files... ;( new card reader?

LOL now he says 50min for 918MB!!

Stefan,

are you dragging the files to your hard drive or opening direct from SD card via reader? I tend to drag images to a new folder, eject SD and then open C1 directed at the new folder. This is a matter, at most, of minutes on a Mac Book Pro

Alternatively, drag images to your hard drive and convert to Adobe DNG files using their RAW converter, but I don't really see the need to do this.

Gruss

Wolfgang

Sorry folks, english translation follows :)

Another advice using C1. Switch of "Rauschfilter" if you don't need it otherwise you'll never get the full sharpness of you pictures. In the standard setting it's not switched off!
