Great valie, good quality, nice flat steady base and access to battery and cards. I can't fault it.
XVarior Posted April 14, 2016 Author Share #3 Posted April 14, 2016 I've got one. It's a Lim's case from China (ebay). Great valie, good quality, nice flat steady base and access to battery and cards. I can't fault it. Good to know, thanks a lot. I'm getting it next week. Regarding battery, I got 2, is it enough for a serial-shooter, I can shoot +500 shot per day easily and now that I'm heading to Cuba, God knows how much pictures I'm gonna be taking. For the week or so of using the Q, the battery life is not impressing me at all, i've cycled it at least 4 times, and it lasts much less than the XVario. I can compare it to the M9 battery life!. All settings are made toward battery saving... I think I'll need a third battery maybe.
Leica Guy Posted April 14, 2016 Share #4 Posted April 14, 2016 I agree about the battery. It's not as long lasting as I wish it was. I bought two extra batteries. If I were going to Cuba, I'd buy at least one more. So, four total. Power management is a challenging issue for all camera mfg's. My Canon 5D3 is amazing. I can pretty much shoot all day on one battery. I carry one extra just in case. We can all wish for a SW update that improves it. I chose an Arte di Mano case with the battery / SD card opening so it is easy to swap out batteries. Good luck. I still LOVE the Q.

CaymanS Posted April 14, 2016 Share #7 Posted April 14, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Lim case is excellent, has solid aluminium frame construction and good quality stitched leather cover with battery/card access below. Also adds useful depth and grip design echoes design of M/240. Can't fault in design or in use. Highly recommended. Leica should get a batch and supply with camera. All settings are made toward battery saving... I think I'll need a third battery maybe. On my settings (less screen use), I can get over 300 shots on one battery. I have four but rarely need more than 2 per day. ChilliPower batteries are reasonably priced and work well.
millsart Posted April 14, 2016 Share #9 Posted April 14, 2016 Its a well made case and a steal for about $109 shipped (US dollars). I found that it made the grip more uncomfortable for me however. I have smaller hands perhaps, so I found that it was uncomfortable to stretch to hit the shutter button on the top deck with my other fingers further out around the grip. Not an issue with the case/grip per say, just didn't work for me Maybe you can try it out in your hands and see how it feels before buying ?

lucerne Posted April 15, 2016 Share #12 Posted April 15, 2016 Order from eBay and it will be sent from South Korea. It isn't really an item stocked in stores. If you use the search facility (Lim's case) on this Leica forum you will find quite a few discussions and links. eBay is the place to locate the case. kikouyou Posted April 16, 2016 Share #14 Posted April 16, 2016 I prefer the Artisan and Artist one, the one on this thread is too thick on the bottom and does not cover the top of the camera. I do not need to put the camera on a tripods while using it and it is very well made and much cheaper than the Arte di Mano which look great too. lucerne Posted April 16, 2016 Share #15 Posted April 16, 2016 I prefer the Artisan and Artist one, the one on this thread is too thick on the bottom and does not cover the top of the camera. I do not need to put the camera on a tripods while using it and it is very well made and much cheaper than the Arte di Mano which look great too. The bottom of Lim's case is rigid and flat anodised black aluminium with a tripod mount. The grip is part of the base and is very strong. All that is neatly and accurately stitched to the leather of the case and it adds some height to the body, making the whole combination easier to grip. In addition, Lim's case provides access to the battery and Sdcard without the need to remove the case from the body. That's quite a significant benefit to many of us. All in all, a leather case and grip for under £80. Finally, when your Q is inside the Lim's case, you will discover that the camera plus case is correctly balanced and doesn't tip forward. That's a real benefit when putting the camera on an available surface when shooting with longer exposure times. Whichever manufacturers case is chosen, if you are right handed, you might agree with me that Leica have put the location of the right hand strap lug too high, and the result is that the strap ring can get in the way of your fingers when shooting. That's an issue with the Leica Q body, and not the case. enjoy!
Leica Guy Posted April 16, 2016 Share #16 Posted April 16, 2016 I also find the right lug a bit high. I place my index finger above it and the middle finger beliw. The strap goes between those two fingers. Its my workaround for the lug not being at the right height for my hand.
