cpclee Posted April 3, 2016 Share #1  Posted April 3, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Published by the in-house reviewers of two leading Japanese camera superstores.  Both have great pictures that demonstrate the resolution and tonality of the SL + 24-90 combo.   First one is in English.   http://photo.yodobashi.com/gear/leica/camera/sl601/index_e.html  Second one is in Japanese only, but very nice pictures nevertheless (click to zoom in)  http://news.mapcamera.com/k4l.php?itemid=29032
Advertisement Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 Hi cpclee, Take a look here a couple of nice SL reviews. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
cpclee Posted April 3, 2016 Author Share #2 Â Posted April 3, 2016 I rather like the 2nd and 10th pictures in the second link. Â They really show the beautiful tonality of the SL. Â Prior to the SL, my benchmark for tonality was the DMR which I never thought any of the digital Ms quite surpassed.
349A Posted April 3, 2016 Share #3 Â Posted April 3, 2016 Very nice, thanks for sharing these links. As a long time M9 user, "CCD snob", I'm really loving my SL. Not to mention the fun of trying all my old lenses from Hasselblad. I think Leica did a great job with the SL.
Jeff S Posted April 3, 2016 Share #4 Â Posted April 3, 2016 Might want to add them to the SL Review thread.... Â http://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/251838-reviews/ Â Jeff
cpclee Posted April 3, 2016 Author Share #5 Â Posted April 3, 2016 I know just what you mean by "CCD snob". Â Would love to learn more about your experience using Hasselblad lenses on the SL. Â Some Hassy lenses are unfairly affordable these days. Â Â Very nice, thanks for sharing these links. As a long time M9 user, "CCD snob", I'm really loving my SL. 349A Posted April 3, 2016 Share #6 Â Posted April 3, 2016 I'll report back on the Hassy lenses once I get a chance to get them outside. I've only done some very basic test shots around the house so far with a cheap adapter on top of my R to M and M to L. The shots around the house had some very nice colors, very smooth and creamy, maybe lacking some bite. Seems excellent for portraiture. Again, no real conclusions yet, I've been juggling lots of recent acquisitions lately and haven't put any real time in yet. I have the 50, 80 and 150. Not very fast lenses, the 80 being my fastest at 2.8 Its nice to play with them outside of my V bodies.
349A Posted April 3, 2016 Share #7  Posted April 3, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just posted an image with the Hassy in the third party lens thread. However, I clearly have no idea how to upload since it looks pretty bad on the forum and pretty good on my desktop...
cpclee Posted April 4, 2016 Author Share #8  Posted April 4, 2016 Thanks for sharing.  The smooth look of the classic Hasselblad Zeiss lenses is a nice alternative to the super sharp / detailed modern Leica lenses.  I just posted an image with the Hassy in the third party lens thread. However, I clearly have no idea how to upload since it looks pretty bad on the forum and pretty good on my desktop...
cpclee Posted April 4, 2016 Author Share #9 Â Posted April 4, 2016 How do you find the ergonomics and handling of hassy lenses on the SL?
349A Posted April 4, 2016 Share #10 Â Posted April 4, 2016 The focus throw is very long so its not a quick lens to focus. You turn, turn and turn some more. The weight is quite okay, they feel lighter than the 24-90. Â The smooth look is very nice. Resolution is surprisingly good as well. Really excellent. jaapv Posted April 4, 2016 Share #11  Posted April 4, 2016  However, I clearly have no idea how to upload since it looks pretty bad on the forum and pretty good on my desktop... Convert to sRGB, 8 bits, and disable colour profile embedding. Pull back on sharpening a bit or apply 1% of gaussian blur. Many browsers cannot handle anything more complicated.

pop Posted April 4, 2016 Share #13  Posted April 4, 2016 I just posted an image with the Hassy in the third party lens thread. However, I clearly have no idea how to upload since it looks pretty bad on the forum and pretty good on my desktop... How do I upload photos to the forum? What's the size limit for uploading photos? Why does the forum shrink my photos and adds ugly artifacts?
