those are photos from "schunat a tikva" - south tel-aviv. it is a poor neighborhood, but very colorful. the people of schunat a tikva are originally jewish comunities from iraq, yamen and north africa as well. the tradition is srtongly retained here and that what makes this place so authentic and colorful. the food is amazing - a true trditional home made taste - no gimmics here. highly recomended for every one when in telaviv - great place for photos and for arab/jewish traditional food.

Hi Victor, I like the bottom one the best. The other ones seem a bit busy for my taste, but the bottom one has a great street feel to it. I think that the one of the children that you posted in another thread were superior photographs, and which I found really quite impressive. It's an interesting project you have going on here. I hope you will be able to keep posting photos from it.

ya ilan, that one is very successful picture. actually, this project is finsihed already and exhebited. but i can always make new candids when i pass by this place. as i have mentioned - very colorful place and great traditional food (though heavy).

as for the "bussy" - ya - i know what u mean, and usually, i make in my works some balance of "pace" while there r very dynamic photos (as if the photograph continues in the line of time), and others that are more static (as if the sense of time is lost).

The last one wins by far. I like the cropped face and the awkward hand positioning the cup towards the viewers. The other ones are fairly "typical" but they are very revealing. Street scenes are tough to capture since there is random stuff going on.

What is your philosophy in trying to find "compositions" in the scenes? I would like to know. I tend to mentally crop everything in sight and then bang the shutter but that's just me.

well ablert - this is more or less what i do too. to get into details and discription... it is some intuition - some perception of the scene especially with this kind of works - street - wide angle. actually - most of the photos of this kind i dont even use viewfinder - in other words - take pictures blind, i look at the scene and point the camera while guessing the focus distance. it is not difficult with some practice but when get used to it - it is a great freedom in work.

perception of the scene and timing in two words
