ynp Posted March 10, 2016 Share #1 Posted March 10, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, I was offered a Hasselblad HC 3.5/50-II for a good price and it goes with the HC Macro Converter. Does anyone know if the Macro Converter works with the S-to-Hasselblad H adapter?
Advertisement Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 Hi ynp, Take a look here Hasselblad Macro Converter with the Leica S . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jip Posted March 10, 2016 Share #2 Posted March 10, 2016 'Macro Converter' is that the actual name of the 'ring' because I don't see it listed in the manual of the Leica S-Adapter H which can be found here: https://uk.leica-camera.com/content/download/121840/1237780/version/2/file/instruction_S-Adapter_H.pdf But it seems that all the rings and adapters and extenders DON'T work with the Leica S-Adapter H

Yes. It's a ring, I have never heard about this converter before. The description from a photo retailer : The Macro Converter for H Lenses from Hasselblad is designed to improve the close focusing range of Hassleblad H series wide angle lenses. It is specifically compatible with the HC 50-II 50mm f/3.5 lens but will work on all H series lenses except the HCD 35-90mm and the HC 50-110mm zoom lenses. The converter mounts between the camera body and the lens and provides a clear, close-up image. The close range of the lens is similar to that of a 6.5mm extension tube but because the converter has a lens system comprised of 3 elements in 2 groups it will give a clear, noticeably better performance with no light loss. jip Posted March 10, 2016 Share #4 Posted March 10, 2016 I don't think it will be compatible. For cheaper macro capabilities I'd suggest go down the Contax 645 lens line. Great Zeiss lenses...

Thank you. I have some Contax glass already and I use the Contax Makro 120mm and HC120-II for our painting shooting. They are more than adequate for our output. I have swapped my broken Leica 120mm for the Summicron s100mm. I have the Contax 45mm. and 55mm. and want a center shutter medium wide lens. The Leica S45mm. CS lens is expensive, and I am considering the HC 3.5/50-II instead , allegedly it is one of the best wide MF optics. It's offered in a trade-in deal with that macro ring. Hence the question. -- Yevgeny
jip Posted March 10, 2016 Share #6 Posted March 10, 2016 I see I see! Don't forget that Leica Central Shutter lenses go as fast as 1/1000 the Hasselblad lenses only go 1/800 (on hasselblad bodies) and 1/750 on the Leica S because Leica S cameras work in half stops. I've used the 300mm from Hasselblad H series on the S, works great, including the central shutter (loud though)
