Athornton Posted March 8, 2016 Share #1  Posted March 8, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Over the last 24 hours I have been lucky to be shooting with the new 35 Summilux TL on both the T and SL.  My initial thoughts on the lens are posted on the T Forum, but please don't overlook its use on the SL, despite the clear overlap with the 50 Lux due later this year.  In many ways the 35 Lux is well suited to the SL, both in size, feel, max shutter speed and the way such a bright lens works with the EVF. With some of the other T lenses I found the EVF to be a little grainy at times, due to the modest apertures and partial use of the sensor, not so with the 35. It was also interesting to switch to 4k video and not to suffer any additional crop.  Whilst there is some purple fringing evident in the viewfinder (in those instances where you would expect it), this seems to be much less obvious in the OOC JPEGs, suggesting the SL might be cleaning things up more than the T. I haven't done any side by side tests so this could be down to subject and shooting conditions.  Best regards,    Andrew   Welcome, dear visitor! G. van Asch Posted March 8, 2016 Share #2 Â Posted March 8, 2016 Thanks again for your info. Did you take some pictures with the TL on the SL? Gerjan
Athornton Posted March 8, 2016 Author Share #3  Posted March 8, 2016 Dear Gerjan,  So far no images of merit, the light is flat and time was tight this morning.  I did take some test shots and, from what I have seen so far, I probably prefer the lens on the SL than on the T, both operationally and for the images.  Obviously there is the whole 10-v-16-v-24m pixel discussion, but I suspect the SL with the 35 Lux TL will rival the best of what we had in film days.  Best regards,   Andrew
cpclee Posted March 8, 2016 Share #4 Â Posted March 8, 2016 How's the build quality? Is it on par with the 24-90 zoom?
G. van Asch Posted March 8, 2016 Share #5 Â Posted March 8, 2016 The built quality is mentioned with the SL review on Red Dot forum by David Farkas. Excellent review to read

BTW, I am T user

Athornton Posted March 8, 2016 Author Share #8  Posted March 8, 2016 Hi Andrew, I am interested to know your comparison of the lens on the SL with the T, why would you prefer over T, presumably you get a lower resolution on SL than the T (specific to this lens). BTW, I am T user It could be that I was using the T without the Visoflex yesterday and so by comparison the SL feels more serious / fluid.  Also, I found the OOC images slightly over-exposed on the T and slightly darker on the SL. The T histograms look better (ETTR), but the JPEGs less pleasing - so far I haven't had time to process any raw files or pixel peek.  I thoroughly enjoyed the 35 Lux on the T.  Best regards,   Andrew
G. van Asch Posted March 8, 2016 Share #9 Â Posted March 8, 2016 Andrew, thanks again. I have an M8 too and when I look at the 10.5 on my old and new pictures (Apple 27" screen) there hardly is a difference between the 2008 M and my new SL. Only when you want large samples it is better to have 24mb also mentioned many times at this forum. It must do great on the T as well. Maybe there is a small difference because of the different EVF. I have once used the T at the dealer and it is a great camera. Gerjan
