nscali Posted March 6, 2016 Share #1 Posted March 6, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am really enjoying the 'look' created out of my M240 with the Voigtlander Ultron 35 1.7 There appears to be, however, a fair bit more distortion than say using my 35 Summilux. I was wondering if there was anyone who has had experience with the Ultron 35 1.7 and which manual lens profile they apply in the M240, when using this lens. Thanks

jaapv Posted March 8, 2016 Share #3 Posted March 8, 2016 The camera lens profiles do nothing for distortion. You will have to resort to postprocessing. If there is a lens profile for this lens in Lightroom it will help Otherwise it is just using the sliders.
azuled Posted March 8, 2016 Share #4 Posted March 8, 2016 If there is no profile available, you could pretty easily make your own with a little time and effort. It likely won't be perfect, but it could be a good starting point.
jochiongv Posted March 11, 2016 Share #5 Posted March 11, 2016 LR4 has a profile for the VM Ultron 35mm f1.7 Ref. attached. (Though, personally, haven't found this lens' distortion too distracting.) cdh Posted March 12, 2016 Share #6 Posted March 12, 2016 Be aware, there are two ultron 35mm f/1.7: the "old " ltm version and the new vm with Leica m mount one. I have the latter and It has only very minimal distorsion that, imho, doesn't require correction even if LR provides a profil for it (and not for the ltm version). cdh

Jakobben Posted March 22, 2016 Share #9 Posted March 22, 2016 According to this: https://helpx.adobe.com/uk/x-productkb/multi/lens-profile-support.html#Voigtlander , the lens profile for this lens was added in Lightroom 6.3, so I assume that LR4 Lens Profile is for the older lens. I only have Lightroom 5, and quite happy with it, and don't feel a need to upgrade to CC or version 6. Is it possible to get the lens profile from version 6.3 into version 5? Are these profiles shared somewhere? Thanks!

Refer to the bottom on this page https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/multi/lens-profile-support.html , I'm not sure if profiles created by Adobe are downloadable as well... Worth looking into if you do not wish to upgrade to the latest LR. Good luck.
rscheffler Posted March 24, 2016 Share #11 Posted March 24, 2016 With the new M mount version I thought it was pretty much distortion free. At least to my eyes. What it does have is a fair amount of vignetting, even stopped down. Also some color shift. Maybe the LR6 profile addresses this? I'm still on LR5 and will hold out until I really need to update (i.e. for a new camera), so I'm using the 35 Cron ASPH in-camera profile for color shift adjustment. Seems to be the best of all the 35mm options, though can result in a slight green/cyan shift, I guess due to overcorrection.
