Today I wanted to put my old Hektor f:2.5/50mm to test with a similar garlic and knife still life setup like I used with the Elmar-V f:3.5/65mm (see #11871).

My Hektor 50mm is as strange beast. It comes without serial number for which reason I think it should be a very early one. On the other hand it is chromed instead of nickel plated and it is still in quite nice condition, which could actually indicate a rather later Hektor. Maybe it had initially been part of a Leica Ia and was later converted into a interchangable lens and chrome plated on this occasion?

Wide open the lens is not the sharpest:

But stopped down to f:3.2 the sharpness increases significantly:

However, at f:3.2 one could have used the cheaper Elmar f:3.5/50mm instead ;-)

On the other hand I took these picture at a distance of approx 50cm, well below the native close up limit of 1m. This might also be responsible for some performance loss. The close up was made possible by the use of the Techart AF adapter on my Sony A9.

B&W conversion was done by Nik Collection Silver Efex Pro 2. Settings: High structure (soft), Ilford Pan F 50 Plus film profile.

My cats told me that I should stop bothering them with my camera every evening. ;-)
So I took a portait of myself today.
The lens was a Summarit f:1.5 / 50mm from 1950 and I used it wide open. The camera was on a tripod, the Techart AF adapter took care of focussing (eye AF!) and I used a cable release. Light was provided by the normal room illumination.
The black and white conversion was done with Silver Efex Pro 2m settings: normal, film profile Kodak Plus X 125 PX Pro.
