To All:

Given that we all present our work within a Leica photographic site, clearly, we are, collectively, from all over the world, whether living or traveling.

Which leads me to an issue prompting this text: I see so many of your photographs that, right after I admire a photograph as a photograph, appreciating the effort we all take to realize good photographs and to improve as photographers, I very often find myself thinking, "I want to go there!" However, most posts do not identify the scene, the place, or the country, giving no hint where that place I want to go to, is.

Yes, one can text to find out, but that's laborious and, at times, no reply is provided.

I have made it a habit to provide the camera (Leica Q), the photograph, and the location. It would be great to see more uploads with that basic information - I would certainly appreciate it - others, I think, would as well!

Thanks for listening,

Joe

Good thought - I mainly agree. Personally, I have limited interest in the camera, lens etc. Sometimes film (if applicable) can be informative, but location adds greatly to my interest. As applicable, of course. A picture of the family pooch - whether the scene is your kitchen, or garage - doesn't matter so much. But a landscape or street scene can be improved with location information.

Thanks for the comments, Michael, good points - I agree that keeping it simple is best.

Nice to hear from Montreal! My wife and I spent part of our honeymoon there 39 years ago and, for 5 years, I lived there for the duration of CHUM, for which I was the Technical Principal for the architects. A beautiful city!

My photos are geo-tagged, if I don' forget to start the external GPX-tracker on my smartphone.

If you want to go to this place showing the excessive street life - have a look into the EXIF:)

Yes, love the street life, 01 maciel!

Thanks for the EXIF tip - I was not aware of that large bundle of information. However, when I go into that, while the is a lot of additional information, there is nothing I could find that located the photograph (?)

I use digkam to edit the geo location. It shows 54°06'41.0"N 12°39'31.2"E . But there are a lot of other apps around.

c&p into Google Maps guides you to an undiscovered region.
