Dear forum members, our forum member friend Ravi "Sandokan" is in Lebanon and me and Edgard "eddds" are so happy he contacted us. Yesterday we did a late afternoon walk on the streets of the old coastal city of BATROUN. Today I'm taking Ravi to Tripoli. So stay tuned:-)

Thanks to Rodrigue and Edgard, I had a fantastic time and learnt from them both. Rodrigue is an artist with a great way of talking to people that opens up fantastic portrait sessions. Edgard is like a long lost twin - we have everything the other one has and it was like a game of snap as we were comparing favourite lenses and cameras. Next I will get a MM like his.

Not only were the army happy to pose with me, but we were invited inside a bakery; a lady professor stood and talked to us for a while; an ex soldier with amazing eyes was telling Rordigue his story; I got to slice up a heart in the butchers shop; we had the tour inside a soap factory; the cafe at the end was a cave full of characters.

As for the food - fantastic. The people everywhere were wonderful, warm and friendly. I will nominate it for the next One Challenge destination.

I am still going through my photos to select the ones to post here.

Thanks for sharing some of your free days with us Ravi.

It was a blast and I really wished Edgard was with us the second day.

You're a charmer to people, walking with you made everyone say yes for a picture:-)

I told you, that turban is a good thing to have.:-)

I wish the one challenge destination will come to Lebanon one day:-)

This was Rodrigue at work. He spent more time talking to people than taking their portrait. Tripoli was probably the best souk I have been to, with tailors (that was the man explaining to Rodrigue how he made the formal coat for the President, with hand woven camel wool instead of machine produced, as it is softer), goldsmiths, fruit and veg, butchers, bakers and soap makers (sorry, not candlesticks). Unfortunately Edgard could not make it that day.
