roelandinho Posted June 23, 2016 Share #141 Posted June 23, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Amateurish ? I thought it was pretty good. Apart from the butcher's bandaged hand there's harmony and contrast provided by the customer's hand (? we don't know who the other hand belongs to, but assumed to be the case) - mind you if I was the customer I wouldn't get so close, alarm bells would be ringing! I think the composition has a balance issue because the white space around the customer's hand is too big and draws attention. But yes, the top part with the butcher's hand is disturbing in a good way. :-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

NB23 Posted June 23, 2016 Author Share #142 Posted June 23, 2016 Amateurish ? I thought it was pretty good. Yes amateurish in the sense that it's been shot a thousand times before to the point of becoming boring. Still, I had one half day in that Mexican town and shot 7 color rolls and 7 BW. I got many keepers but nothing new. Many are lookalikes of what has already been shot before, therefore my "amateurish" comment. If I stopped shooting what has already been done before I'd probably end up shooting 8 rolls of film in a year. This is why I'm trying to see in new ways. I think I'm on the verge of developing a new style. Understated, passive, yet with a strong appeal that creeps out. We will see. But that's for a few years down the road. I'm still printing old and current stuff even though I feel I'm changing the way I see.

brill64 Posted July 1, 2016 Share #146 Posted July 1, 2016 without doubt, you can create beautiful imagery with great light & interesting moment. your work could benefit further from organising your stored work prints. as a start, clear a long table & begin to look at them laid out together. I tried and it quickly became the worst nightmare. Handling a lot of 16x20 or 20x24 fb prints in a room is something I avoid. However, I have also started to scan all my work with the best possile scan quality. I am making a comprehsible compilation of them all. I am starting to breathe. Steve Ricoh Posted August 13, 2016 Share #158 Posted August 13, 2016 Interesting shadow effect around the hat, but not around her body. I don't know how you get these, it's uncanny like the decisive moment happening for you time and time again. Well done!
