This image is outstanding, Nenad.  Was it made with your f/1.0 Noctilux?

Your 21mm images are making me want explore my 21 Super Elmar as a street photography lens.  Thanks for showing us the possibilities the 21mm offers for street work.

Yes, it is Noctilux.

The 21 Super Angulon is outstanding in B&W, it wraps the scene in such a lovely way. If I had more than one lifetime to live, I'd spend an entire lifetime shooting with only the Super Angulon.

Hi Ned,

Funny thing but probably predictable. I went out one weekend to deliberately shoot lots of film (my usual style is as parsimonious as the days when I had less money), and most of my shots were rubbish. Only one adequate shot for every two rolls instead of my old average of two per roll.

It is the discerning eye, which you have. Thanks for your photos.

Oh I can relate!

Shooting more doesn't mean more keepers per se when you're in your own neighborhood. But while on vacation for example (let's take the Classic Cuba or NYC destinations), one will always benefit from shooting more.

Finding a good spot under a good light and shooting 3 frames instead of simply one makes a whole difference.

Yes, there is also the liberation of not having to be super cheap with film as we go older and a little wealthier. And shooting more is just such a great therapy for the soul. I feel so fulfilled after a day's shoot. I feel even more fulfilled when spending some time listening to music or a good sports game in the darkroom afterwards.

As a sidenote, Ilford bulk films are such a great value! everyone should buy at least Ten HP5 and FP4 rolls.

Thanks for the compliment.

I've said this before, but it's worth saying again, your street work is outstanding and it certainly stands out from the crowd.

If you don't mind me asking, do you zone focus mostly or use the RF. I'm guessing zone, most street photographers use this technique, especially with a RF; it's the fastest point and shoot available.

I never zone focus. I maybe should because focusing made me lose a lot of good moments and takes a lot of energy during crucial moments, an energy that should be put in composing and getting the image. But a perfect focus is my pet peeve.

I just have two settings on my 35 Cron, 5m and 2m, and quickly tab between the two as required. For me it's better to get the shot and forgo critical focus than to miss the moment.

I know in theory it's ok but in practice the dof scale is not exact.

The best example is my 28 cron: it has such a wild focus shift that it basically killed many of my shots.

At f2.0 ot's perfect. At f2.8 ot backfocuses. At f4.0 it focuses at infinity even though I'm focusing at an object 15 to 20 feet away. It's quite frustrating. So if I was to zone-focus with that particular lens, I would end up with unuseable pictures moat of the time.
