IWC Doppel Posted March 1, 2016 Share #1 Posted March 1, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi All, To start with I'll let you all know I'm not too technical when it comes to PC's or in my case a MAC, so it may be this which is my problem. Anyhow... I have a 3880 spent the time setting it up and read lots of information 3 years or so ago when I bought it, then after setting up all the paper profile and ABW settings I have just been printing until a few months back. My methodology was paper feed in the back (thick fine art papers), then manual load. From memory I would load by inserting and pressing no buttons, it would see the paper and load and so long as I was careful and kept a small amount of pressure on the top it would load over 50% of the time, so no problem if it didn't shuffle and say 'ready' with the paper loaded then I would eject and load again. Now it doesn't seem to load and if it skews it shows the error and won't respond to any buttons, needing me to switch off, wait and start again. I am unsure what to do, to call a computer person, send back to Epson (god knows how packaging was disposed of years ago) any ideas ?

Guest Posted March 1, 2016 Share #2 Posted March 1, 2016 I think the best solution would be to call someone to have a look at it. I use the latest version of this printer and it always feeds perfectly 100% of the time. I either load about 10 sheets or feed singles occasionally. I did find at first that unless the guides where set accurately to the width of the paper the paper would not feed . As a starter however check you have the latest driver installed . Reboot the printer and computer and using the manual redo the installation procedure in other words reinstall and see what happens. If I was closer I would pop round and have a closer look.Just a bit too far away as much as I like to shop at Bath Compact Disc. Brianp
Jeff S Posted March 1, 2016 Share #3 Posted March 1, 2016 Experiences often differ based on paper loading technique....a quick search will bring up discussions on various forums, as here... http://forum.luminous-landscape.com/index.php?topic=69247.msg548791#msg548791 It's important to line up the paper parallel with the right edge and use both hands to continue feeding evenly downward as the paper grabs. I use the 3800 (which I believe has the same feed options), and I much prefer using the front feed for various thicker or 'more difficult' papers (ones that curl, etc). Of course, regardless of feed option, one needs to update firmware and carefully check that all settings (as described in the manual), including setting platen gap, etc. FWIW, I don't use ABW mode for b/w, where the printer manages colors, instead using a traditional color managed workflow with my custom profiles.
