albert Posted February 16, 2016 Share #1  Posted February 16, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Lady, The Newfoundland Female, broke through the ice and plunged into the Mississippi River. I take full responsibility and continue to be shaken to my core.  I knew the water depth was only about one meter at the point she broke through. She yelped and cried and tried to claw her way back onto the ice but she could not get a grip.  I took off my coat and belly-crawled, as flat as a pancake, to within three feet of her head. I was able to toss her leash around her neck and form a lasso. My wife held my feet as we pulled Lady back onto the ice. Please don't tell me all that is stupid and dangerous as the lesson has sunk deeply into my psyche. Three photographs attached showing the drama. Welcome, dear visitor!
