scott kirkpatrick Posted February 15, 2016 Share #1 Posted February 15, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) I did some tests on the improvements made on the Elmarit-asph M 28 that has started to ship. The details are all at http://www.getdpi.com/forum/leica/57393-new-leica-lenses-announced.html#post681796 . The interesting part of the results is that the upgrade to the 28/2.8 give a slight improvement in its rendering on the M[240], but a big improvement on the SL. The earlier version of this lens did not focus well away from center when wide open on the SL, but did much better on the Ms. The changes to the lens remove this problem. Since tiny Elmarit is unbalanced on the SL, maybe this tells us something about Leica's plans for next generation sensors in the M line. scott

thighslapper Posted February 15, 2016 Share #2 Posted February 15, 2016 Yes ........ very interesting ...... but not surprising that Leica seems to be updating M series lenses to the world of digital .... rather than convoluted sensor/correction dodges to cope with the optics ....
