maine207 Posted February 6, 2016 Share #1 Posted February 6, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, So I'm going to go look at a Durst, no luck with the Leitz so I am checking out some other manufacturers... anyways people really seem to be complaining about finding replacement bulbs for the Durst enlargers..B&H sells a 150w bulb with the same fitting as the original Durst bulb, though it is a different shape I think, does anyone have any experience with this enlarger? Here is a link to the bulb i'm referring to: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/74801-REG/Wiko_PH212_Lamp_150.html I just don't want to buy an enlarger and not be able to find a light for it..at least I don't want to break the bank getting one. Anyone know if this light would work? Sorry to start a new thread, but where I figured this targeted Durst enlargers only it might catch someones eye that owns one. Advertisement Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 Hi maine207, Take a look here Durst Laborator 138s bulb. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
M.Hilo Posted February 7, 2016 Share #2 Posted February 7, 2016 That's not the right bulb for the Durst 138s, should be about double the size and 250watt or 300watt . . . not easy to find and often expensive when you do. Only second hand. Be careful to think 138s - they're beasts ! For a first enlarger you will be much better off with something small and high quality ! maine207 Posted February 7, 2016 Author Share #3 Posted February 7, 2016 Ha Yeah it looks huge!! I thought the Dursts were really high quality?
gyoung Posted February 7, 2016 Share #4 Posted February 7, 2016 If I remember rightly thats a 7x5 enlarger, if its b&w and condensers you will have a job finding any unless it has a complete set already, and it will be far from easy to use for 35mm. jpattison Posted February 8, 2016 Share #5 Posted February 8, 2016 Take a look at the Durst Laborator 1200, It covers 5x4 to 35mm. For Black & White use, you could fit an Ilford Multigrade 500H head. John
gyoung Posted February 8, 2016 Share #6 Posted February 8, 2016 I never found large format enlargers very convenient for 35mm, you end up with 50mm lenses in sunken mouunts and its all too big and clumsy. Much better to find one designed for 35mm Gerry
pico Posted February 8, 2016 Share #7 Posted February 8, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Ah, I remembered this discussion from some time ago on the large format forum. See this link, and scroll down to posts by Allen in Montreal: http://www.largeformatphotography.info/forum/archive/index.php/t-74895.html Allen went all the way into testing alternatives with an expert and his findings were enlightening. Good luck!
pico Posted February 8, 2016 Share #8 Posted February 8, 2016 Well, it appears that you found your answer on the LF forum. Nothing to see here, folks. Move on.
M.Hilo Posted February 9, 2016 Share #9 Posted February 9, 2016 Well, it appears that you found your answer on the LF forum. Nothing to see here, folks. Move on. Well, there's something else, perhaps: Apug is down for maintenance, but once it is up again try to find a thread of about three months ago about the Dr. Fischer company doing research to produce the old style large Durst bulbs again.
