I really enjoyed this piece. 

 

Particularly resonant was the bit about sometimes being so ready in anticipation for the shot that you feel like you have frozen time, and at other times being so unready that you feel like the one frozen while the world moves around you.

 

I also was really intrigued by the bit about the different types of police work he was doing influencing the compositions, viewing positions, etc, that he was using in his photographic work. I'm sure these strong outside influences affect our own photographic work through different phases.

 

I loved the Chamber 'portrait'. It's a reminder that we must all find our own vision and just go for it.

Thank you for posting this wonderful piece, Thorsten.  As someone that worked in the World Trade Center and saw the surreal dust clouds and these towers disappearing, I am thankful for first responders like Botte that recorded those significant scenes.  As stated before, his explanation of shooting angles was a stellar observation; I would have enjoyed riding shotgun on his often dangerous assignments.
