I'm considering buying one of these two national geographic camera bags.

I'm wondering if anyone is using either of them. If so, I would love to hear your opinions.

I want something that I can use for my M8 and just a few smaller lenses. Tempted to go with the smaller version, but I can't get a good sense of how much space it has in the main compartment.

This is the larger shoulder bag:

And here is a smaller version:

I used to have this one. It is an ok camera bag. But it keep slipping off my shoulders (unlike Domke, etc) I think the whole series need to be redesigned. I gave mine away a few months ago.

Unless you plan to wear it cross-shoulders, I would advise against it.

Good question about the logo. I actually don't know the answer to that.

I don't personally think "valuable" when I see the words "National Geographic" but I could be way off base.

Was sort of thinking I'd figure out a way to remove the logo.

Rosuna,

Which bag do you have? And how much stuff do you fit in it?

I have the medium NG bag and it is ok. However, I don't really use it as a camera bag. I use when traveling to carry my computer (and accessories) and a smaller camera bag (I remove the center padded section so that my Domke F-5X or Crumpler 4 million dollar bags fit in the main compartment of the NG bag. When I get to where I am going, I use the Domke or Crumpler bag as normal and leave the NG bag in the room or vehichle trunk. The NG bag is good in that it has enough room for the computer, normal shooting bag, and accessories like the Leica brick wall charger, blower, artic butterfly, etc.

I recently picked up a different bag to try a similar setup as I have been using the NG bag. I have been concerned that the NG bag looks too much like a camera bag. I have three weeks of travel coming up soon so I will have a good chance to see how the new bag compares.

Hi Tim, I'm glad to describe my setup (a real killer combo!)

I did choose (after a lot of doubts, and many flying-off-a-window-bags) a 2 pieces set:

I bought the National Geographic NG2343 Shoulder Bag

+

National Geogrphic NG 1152 Earth Explorer Medium Camera Pouch

Total amount 60$+25$

and so I made my combo:

Ng1152 hooked on my belt

and Ng2343 on my shoulder

In the Ng2343 i can put my M8 with a lens mounted on (even a 90 summicron) if you put the camera in vertical way, and then 2/3 other lenses well divided by diferent compartment in the bag (usually my 50 elmar and 28 cron or 15CV or WATE).

In the little NG1152 i usually carry a lens of those, for quick exchange of lenses during "action". So when I have my camera on my shoulder with Elmar50 on it, i can suddenly open the little NG1152 on my belt, take the CV15 and spend up to 10" to change the lens!

I think it's great enough!Don't you?

Last but not least I can carry some SDcards, the cleaning sheets, the Grey Card, my two cellular phones and some other things like money and credit cards in the Little-Big NG2343.

Light weight! Light weight!

Regards

Maurizio
