lambroving Posted June 1, 2007 Share #1 Posted June 1, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Sorry this isn't a better shot. They were working on a rotted ALCO PA too, but it was under a huge, big blue flapping tarp!

cardinal Posted June 1, 2007 Share #2 Posted June 1, 2007 My guess is that it is a SW1200 Switcher engine built maybe in the 1960's. Here is a couple photos of one and the name plate too. I am sure Ken would know exactly. Ken also that engine looks like it has an oil cooler on the side?
hamey Posted June 1, 2007 Share #3 Posted June 1, 2007 Hello Gentlemen. William, Bill. To what I can make out, and Bill is correct it's an EMD SW 1200, they where built between 1954-1966 about 1000 where built for the US and Canada. Powered by EMD 567c total HP.1200 through Cyls 12. However the one posted is an X Canadian Pacific SW1200 because it was also used for Main line work. Having Flexicoil Trucks and large Number indicators and Headlight assembly It was refered to a SW1200RS.....RS==Road Service. Bill. More likely it's a compressed air intercooler attached to the Main reservoir I hope that helps. Ken.
