leicaphilia Posted January 12, 2016 Share #1 Posted January 12, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've recently acquired a chrome M5, #1347010, which, according to official Leitz records is in fact a chrome M5. This would place it produced mid 72, one of the later versions. What's interesting about the camera is that it has a black chrome shutter winding lever and also a black chrome hotshoe with the engraved serial number (which, of course, seems to means a chrome hotshoe hasn't been replaced with a black one). The camera is in perfect condition, doesnt look like its ever been used. I'm aware of the M6 "Panda" editions, which seem to be the result of Leitz mixing/matching chrome and black chrome parts in a pinch, but I can find almost no information about Leitz having done the same thing with the M5 other than some anecdotal claims that a few other people have either seen or owned an M5 in this approximate serial number range with either a black chrome winder lever or both the winder lever and hotshoe. I find no pictures of this alleged creature anywhere however. can those of you who know enlighten me about these M5 "Pandas"? How rare is my camera ( not that I 'm selling it- just curious) cheers
