M6 Frameline Lever Plastic Insert

Just got hold of my 3rd M6 yesterday (It's an incurable illness I know!) and sadly the plastic frameline lever insert is missing. Had a look around to see what parts Don at DAG Camera had but nothing going. Anybody know where I might be able to find one?

Specifically, Dave Elwell, for parts.

Be aware there have been several configurations to the plastic lever inserts since they first appeared on the M4 in 1968 - ALL will fit, but some have a raised center block, some have stepped "ziggurat" center blocks, some have recessed center areas (most common - used from M4-2 through M7), some have "domed" center blocks (early M4), and some have white lines on them (had to do with being able to see the movement of the self-timer lever from a distance more easily - when cameras had such, late M4/M5 era).

What you get from Leica may be whatever is in the "free parts" bin at the time.

I got the "domed" M4 type when Dave sent me a replacement for my M6.

They just press-snap into the metal lever frame.

Which - BTW - produces the compressive stress that can cause them to crack eventually. It's plastic, after all - it can degrade at some point due to cumulative exposure to heat, UV light, chemicals, whatever.

That's a cool bit of trivia. I see spats.

Oh my, if Leica made shoes!
