How To Change Frame Numbering?

I did a search on this but didn't find an answer, although I admit I may well not have framed the search terms properly.

I have one M8 body. I am about to get a second.

In the first body, images are numbered automatically by the camera, beginning at L1000001and climbing sequentially.

I would like to use a slightly different numbering scheme for the second body (perhaps beginning at L2000001) so I don't wind up with duplicate file names in certain folders on my hard drive.

Is there a way to do this?

If not, is there a suggested work around?

Thanks for your help.

This was posted by someone else but it is the way to change the file numbering.

"Here is a procedure that will allow you change to anything you want:

1. Set the exposure number in the menu to "Standard"

2. Format the SD card in camera.

3. Reset the File Number in the menu.

4. Set exposure back to "Continuous"

5. Take one image

6. Shut off camera, remove SD card and place in card reader to computer.

7. Access the image in your Finder or Explorer (Mac or PC); rename the image number to whatever file number/image number you want. I would suggest Lyyyxxxx, with "y" being your preferred folder number and "x" being the frame number you want to start with. (You are making these changes to the file name on the card in the card reader.)

8. Properly remove card from card reader and return to camera.

9. Press "Play"; file will now display with newly renamed folder and file number. (Use "Info" to see this data.)

10. Expose another image to confirm and check file numbers.

11. Format SD card, and you are good to go from that point on."

Does that mean any time you put a card with images on it into the camera the frame numbering gets reset? If so, maybe that explains some of the "frame numbering anomalies" I've had...

Not sure but if you follow the steps I listed above it should clear any anomalies up.

If not then maybe you need to send the camera in to have it looked at.

I once did a test on my M8 to change the folder (beginning file) number from the L100 to L101 or 2 and once I had done that the steps above took the camera back to the original L100 and to the next shot number taken in sequence from what it was originally.
