Leica Q Video Mode 1080/30p setting Issues

I assume not every Leica Q owner uses the video mode on the camera.

However I have used it and for the most part it works... However there is an issue with not being able to select 25 or 50p.

I created the movie below with Leica Q and a GoPro (for the in-depth parts).

After a few seconds (so bear with me) you'll se what I'm having trubbel with. The flickering of the lights is due to (what Iv heard) the 50MHz wavelength of current to the lights in the bedroom.

I don´t know if there is a trick around this problem without using 25/50p.

If you have any ideas let me know. This being a "photography"-forum in the end of the short movie there is a few photos taken with the Q

Lovely!

cant help with 1080/30p though.  I'm completely in the dark about video standards.  Maybe I'll learn something if I follow the experts who will respond to your question.

I don't think you can trick this while recording.

But you can try a frame rate conversion software, eg. Final Cut, to convert the recorded video from 60hz to 50hz and see if the conversion eliminates the "flickered" frame automatically. You can also edit manually.

Note that if you do convert from 60hz to 50hz, 1 frame will be dropped every 6 frames. The result will be a non-smooth video especially if it has high motion content. If the video is more or less static the non-smoothness may not be obvious.

Just discovered through an article on the Leica Blog that video recording options is vastly improved when using the Q app and the iPhone as the commander. When using the Q app you have total control over the exposure when filming, which you do not have when just using the camera to record movies. I must say I am baffled and surprised it took me a year with the camera to figure this out :D

Although I must say it is not the most optimal way of filming, it is at least good to have an alternative. But i´m not sure why it wont work the same way in camera.
