the warrior Posted January 9, 2016 Author Share #21 Posted January 9, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) True friends, the road is very good, the street is the best school to shoot.Shoot one meter is not for cowards, but shoot at 1 meter is addictive and easy when mastered, remember never to show fear or indecisón people on the street, watch the videos of Gilden, I do just as Gilden but I have no videos. In my workshops I teach the technique to do well without bothering people, without fear, seem annoying at first but after the photo they are pleased, but only after, that is important, look at Gilden and see me .You have to surprise people, gestures and sometimes their "anger" are all photography.Do not be fearful of you, take vitamins and .... the street. Photographs do not always pretty girl or little old ladies when he comes in front of you "a bad guy" also shot. The "bad guys" remain silent as they pass by photographer aiming his camera to them and makes them the photograph. You believe this guy has not seen me take the picture at 1 meter of his face ?? Naturally a 21mm lens there is always room to cut a little, at 1 meter photography seems collect information that is not worth much.
Advertisement Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Hi the warrior, Take a look here I walk in the street, I look and I still see . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
the warrior Posted January 9, 2016 Author Share #22 Posted January 9, 2016 Pictured above are two women alone, it is true ??, NO, the husband of the woman on the left is next to my camera, but I cut something, but notice that there is no fear, the photographer should not be afraid, it should only be respectful and say goodbye with a smile and a word: Thank pretty girls. You believe this guy has not seen me take the picture 30 centimeters from her face ?? They were chatting and I made my photography. Finally everyone happy, surprised but happy. Here is the original photograph, it is somewhat curtailed by the right since there no information. I have to cut because they use external viewfinder with 21mm lens, I shoot eye although I look out the rangefinder.
Steve Ricoh Posted January 9, 2016 Share #23 Posted January 9, 2016 Thanks for the kind offer Jhon - unfortunately my knowledge of Spanish is non existent, apart from the odd words like beer please which wouldn't take me far!

Steve Ricoh Posted January 9, 2016 Share #25 Posted January 9, 2016 A beer please !!!, this is the most heard phrase in the summer jajajajaja Ok, great, I should fit in well then Actually I've been to Madrid on many occasions, for business reasons. Lots to like about the city, but the architecture was the stand out for me with various sculptures at roof height.
viramati Posted January 9, 2016 Share #26 Posted January 9, 2016 I more often or not shoot street very close but I prefer not to surprise or upset people where possible as I feel this is very invasive and this where I diverge from the 'Gilden' technique. I will shoot from the hip or use other techniques and usually I'm never noticed and if I am I just move on and don't engage. If you tried to take a photo in this way of my wife she would probably get a lot more than angry!! But hey I do like some of your images
lmans Posted January 10, 2016 Share #27 Posted January 10, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) I think it is important to use all methods....sometimes, being 'close' is not always the best way to shoot street photography as you want more than just a tight face. What else is going on around that person that is important to include in the image? Look for the situation that tells a story and if it is 'close up' ...great, if not...shoot from further back... So while getting close is important, don't confuse getting close as being the only way to shoot street. And yes...sometimes when shooting close, I will also use a 'shooting from hip' but likewise, I like to just put the camera in the face and see what comes from it. If you just smile and move on, things are okay for the most part.
the warrior Posted January 10, 2016 Author Share #28 Posted January 10, 2016 Werll Steve, I think a beer is no language problem jejeje. Tell me which area of Madrid you move. Viramati, my friend, I'm glad that you would like some of my photographs, if his wife is angry I prefer not to photograph, I want my two eyes integers jajajajaja Do not worry, I think your wife does not want pictures because you DO NOT KNOW THEM AND NEVER MAKES IT VERY PRETTY !!! it is a joke. It is true my friend Imans, If you just smile and move on, things are okay for the MOST part.I encourage you to try and say the results, surely you are very surprised.... and It's true, is not always good to collect only part of the scene, I must change my way of looking at people on the street, sure if there is much to teach in the street. I can not stop shooting very close, I can not avoid 50mm lens and portraits, is a problem for me. Sometimes a larger scene reveals many things to us ...... The photograph below is not mine is a well-known teacher, I love, I am inspired by the person and his way of looking and seeing the world around him. And this one is a masterpiece also the same author, that I remember, I love it. Photography is the best invention of human beings, the best way to communicate and how best to relate. the warrior Posted January 10, 2016 Author Share #29 Posted January 10, 2016 I must tell you something my friend viramati, women always more involving when being photographed, they always want more and better pictures, they are always more comfortable to be portrayed, sure that his wife is not as irascible, you wanted to deceive me jajajajaja if they find out that you say today that can sleep on the street with dog
Steve Ricoh Posted January 10, 2016 Share #30 Posted January 10, 2016 Jhon, my business trips to Madrid came to an end 3 years ago, Actually, the company I was visiting was in Tres Cantos, but I used to stay over night in Madrid - better selection of hotels and restaurants. viramati Posted January 10, 2016 Share #31 Posted January 10, 2016 I fully understand that English is not your first language and commend you for posting and trying to put your view over but in your comments in reference to my post I am having some difficulty in understanding your real meaning. I do like your work and post-processing (especially the series you started the post with) but was just trying to convey a intellectual/morel battle I sometimes have with myself over Street Photography and I suppose I haven't really resolved. All I am saying that there should be an awareness on the part of the Photographer that all the time we are taking Photographs in this way we are interacting with them and as such should always be questioning our intent and the motivation. I am certainly not here to judge and thank god that people still take pictures on the Street in all the ways we do especially in these days of more control and surveillance of every move we make. In reference to my wife often have heated discussions over 'street' photography and she is totally opposed to the whole genre and just hates having her photo taken in nearly any sort of circumstance. Makes my life very difficult sometimes
the warrior Posted January 10, 2016 Author Share #32 Posted January 10, 2016 Yes Steve, Madrid is better than Tres Cantos, one lives here anymore !!!. Viramati, photography is a photographer in fighting with himself, no doubt.Today we are used to pictures and videos, I think we could care less that we photographed in the street. My wife goes out with me every day, this is my assistant, not love photography but I have other problems like my friends, they do have problems with their wives.Do not worry, you are not alone there, I think you need to do if you like it photograph.I must say that I have come to develop a control over people, I have no trouble putting my camera at 1 meter or mñas near them, but keep decision and after the photo must be nice and pleasant, give the thanks to them.If you do triumph and thus will not have problems. We must act very quickly, if you observe an angry face must quickly say something positive image of the person being photographed:"Oh, your eyes are really beautiful, I want you to let me bring in my camera with me""Hey, you have a look of smug guy, you're perfect for my series of photographs of tough guys."You have to overcome fear in order to achieve good photographs, spectacular shots, remember that very famous phrase: "If your photographs are not good it you were not close." Porto, Portugal. Porto, Portugal. With vaseline filter, in Madrid. She did not look at me, I said, "chsst, chsst, .. hey, ...hello", and shot. Greetings to all. Steve Ricoh Posted January 10, 2016 Share #33 Posted January 10, 2016 It certainly would be good to see you in action on the street, Jhon - this is an amazing thread. It's almost like a training manual (for me at least!) The last image, that's a very 'cheeky' way of getting an image, but he'll it worked for you. What did the guy say, if anything, or did you move on quickly?
the warrior Posted January 10, 2016 Author Share #34 Posted January 10, 2016 Steve friend, normally them and they say nothing, they laugh. Several times I have said that I could make a video working on the street for others to see, but I think there are too many videos to the respect, but maybe one day I made that video, yes.Regards.
