2wk Posted January 6, 2016 Share #1 Posted January 6, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Does anyone tether with the SL? I am interested in this camera but it wouldnt make sense to me unless I could tether in a studio. I wish somehow the folks at Leica could make nice ($) with the folks at Capture One. I wish they understood how important this feature is for many profesionals.

dwphoto Posted January 6, 2016 Share #2 Posted January 6, 2016 No tethering yet. That was my first question too.
Nikus Posted January 6, 2016 Share #3 Posted January 6, 2016 What about the Leica SL App? Isn't it tethering? I'm still using it....
ramarren Posted January 6, 2016 Share #4 Posted January 6, 2016 What about the Leica SL App? Isn't it tethering? I'm still using it.... The Leica SL app is wireless tethering, exposures recorded on the camera, JPEG only transfer to the device. It only runs on iOS and Android devices too. A wired tethering solution should include the same control and viewfinder capabilities as well as exposures recorded directly (and only) to the host computer, which should include OS X and Windows (at least). It would be really neat if the Leica SL app was expanded to include a wired tethering mode and transferred both raw and JPEG direct to the device, and then was made capable of being run on OS X and Windows as well. But that's a lot of development...

a-one Posted February 15, 2016 Share #6 Posted February 15, 2016 Also very frustrated by the lack of Mac/PC tethering with the SL - a function that is clearly advertised as being available for the SL by Leica. (Link here under Details / Seamless Integration- http://en.leica-camera.com/Photography/Leica-SL/Details and copy of that text below) Seamless Integration Fits perfectly into your working environment The Leica SL is designed and constructed for seamless integration into existing working environments and work flows. Image data can be saved in the future-proof DNG (Digital Negative) format, the only manufacturer-independent, standardised format that does not rely on dedicated RAW converters. USB 3.0 enables fast and stable tethered shooting with the camera connected to a computer. Leica Image Shuttle software ensures an efficient work flow and enables all relevant exposure parameters such as shutter speed and aperture to be assessed on the monitor of a PC. The Leica SL App enables remote control of the camera and the use of a smartphone or tablet as a monitor screen. ----------------------------------- According to Leica Mayfair, an SL compatible version of Image Shuttle for Mac and PC has been developed, but was pulled at the last minute as there were problems of some sort with it. No information available as to when a fixed version might be released, but apparently Leica 'are working in it'. I don't find wif-fi 'tethering' with the Leica SL iOS app anywhere near fast or reliable or useful enough - and USB tethering was one of the reasons I was interested in the SL. Personally I wish that Leica would just create a plug in for Lightroom so that the SL can be tethered directly to LR rather than have to use Image Shuttle and import to LR via a watch folder. Either that or switch their allegiance to Capture One and do the same! But hopefully at least the updated Image Shuttle application will appear before too long ... MediaFotografie Posted February 18, 2016 Share #7 Posted February 18, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) ...now there are two new (or updated) ways for S (007) tethering - and still none for the SL... http://leicarumors.com/2016/02/17/new-tethering-solutions-released-for-the-leica-s-typ-007-camera.aspx/#more-39558 :-(
tobey bilek Posted February 19, 2016 Share #8 Posted February 19, 2016 LR is set to to receive tether now. Pick a folder. Under preferences, pick start tether now. define the first sub folder which is automatically created. Expose first series. Click on name of first sub folder and name subfolder 2. Expose series 2. I use a regular 12 foot USB to macbook air. I can`t seem to open link in you tube, but it is Terry White, 3 tips for shooting tethered into LR 5. Use the search function to open for better details. This is valuable to me because I can easily separate families at events and let them see a slide show of just their pics.
