jonoslack Posted July 27, 2016 Share #242 Posted July 27, 2016 John, Godfrey With respect to the "focus shift" found by Ming and Lloyd, as Godfrey has it, it wasn't focus shift, but an AF anomaly, which was fixed in firmware pretty quickly. I don't think either Ming or Lloyd ever checked it again or reported on the fix - I don't think they worked on it together, but they tested in the same manner (Lloyd first I think), and I could certainly reproduce the issue back then - but it always seemed to me that it was because the camera was focusing towards the front edge of the focusing square (which obviously changes as you zoom). I am not seeing any focus shift and never could reproduce it. The AF behavior you described is similar to what I've seen. Lloyd claims flat targets like barns are still showing what he is calling front-focusing problems. I no longer subscribe so am not able to view his examples this time around.
