scott kirkpatrick Posted May 31, 2007 Share #1 Posted May 31, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) My kids finished a project to furnish a three-story dollhouse and wanted a record, taken from a child's-eye view. So these are shot with the CV15/4.5 at f/11, natural light plus a little help from a flashlight, at a distance of about 30 cm. The depth of field scale says that at f/11 you get from 0.3 to 1.0 m, and at f/8 from 0.3 to 0.6 m, but in fact it looks as if I got a sharp image from 25 to 35 cm at the edges of the frame and perhaps somewhat more in the center. The label on the upper picture is just a tricky way of saying "dolls' house." The originals (at 100%) are on pbase at CV15/4.5@f/11 L1004383.jpg . scott

huwge Posted May 31, 2007 Share #3 Posted May 31, 2007 Hi Scott, an interesting perspective and yet another use for this is extremely versatile and, dare I say it, relatively cheap lens. Two questions: Have you cropped much or did you have to do anything to straighten the perspective? How did you manage the vignetting? I am using the CV15 without a filter as I can't be arsed with fiddling about with washers but tend to keep to B&W for the time being as I am not a colour management maven Huw
scott kirkpatrick Posted May 31, 2007 Author Share #4 Posted May 31, 2007 They're cropped vertically (to the floor) but not or only a tiny bit horizontally. (if you go to pbase, the uploaded 100% version shows the pixel count.) The house is about 60 cm wide, and the camera was positioned about 15 cm away from its front. I am not currently using an IR filter, since the occupants of the house didn't seem to be wearing anything that would cause problems. I have the camera set to ON, and there is evidence that it remembers that I specified 16 mm when I previously called up the lens focal length dialog in ON+UV/IR, but the focal length is not written out in the INFO or the EXIF, so I only hope that it is doing overall vignetting correction but can't be sure. Red vignetting didn't seem to be a problem in this shot. scott
DaveB Posted May 31, 2007 Share #5 Posted May 31, 2007 No M8 user should be without this marvelous little lens.
